1. About BeWell & This Policy

BeWell ("we", "our", or "the app") is a smart fitness, daily step, hydration, sleep, and habit-tracking mobile application developed by GeekyWebTech.

At BeWell, your health and physical activity data belongs to you. We designed BeWell with an Offline-First Privacy Architecture: your daily steps, hydration logs, weight entries, and walk telemetry are stored primarily in an encrypted local database on your own device, ensuring you have uninterrupted access without exposing your biometrics to third-party data brokers.

When you create an account, BeWell provides secure, encrypted cloud synchronization so you can restore your progress across devices and participate in social fitness circles with trusted friends and family.

2. Information We Collect

To provide accurate tracking, personalized biometric targets, and intelligent health insights, BeWell collects the following categories of information:

• Account & Profile Information — Your name, email address, profile avatar (optional), age, gender, height, current body weight, and desired target weight.
• Daily Step & Activity Logs — Real-time and cumulative daily step counts, walking cadence, active duration, estimated calories burned, and distance in kilometers or miles.
• GPS & Workout Route Trails Optional / Workout-Only — High-precision latitude, longitude, elevation, timestamps, and route polyline data collected exclusively while you have an active outdoor walking or running session running in BeWell.
• Hydration & Water Logs — Intake timestamps, glass counts, volume in milliliters, and daily hydration goal achievements.
• Body Weight & BMI Trends — Periodic weigh-in logs, calculated Body Mass Index (BMI), and longitudinal trend progression.
• Sleep & Rest Records — Bedtime, wake-up times, total rest duration, and subjective sleep quality ratings.
• Wear OS & Smartwatch Synchronization — Real-time step telemetry and sync tokens exchanged between the BeWell Wear OS companion application and your mobile device.
• Device & Notification Identifiers — Device model, operating system version, and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) tokens required to deliver smart reminders and celebration badges.

3. Device Permissions & Hardware Access

BeWell requests specific operating system permissions only when required to deliver core functionality:

• Physical Activity / Motion Recognition Required — (ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION on Android, NSMotionUsageDescription on iOS). Reads hardware pedometer step detector sensors to compute your real-time step counts in the foreground and background with minimal battery drain.
• Location (Foreground & Background during Walk Workouts) Optional — (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION). Used strictly during an active outdoor walking or running workout to compute exact GPS distance, pace, speed, and map route polylines. BeWell does NOT track your location when you are not actively recording a workout.
• Push Notifications Optional — (POST_NOTIFICATIONS). Delivers gentle hydration reminders, daily step recap notifications, workout controls, and circle friend milestones. You can toggle reminders on or off at any time in Profile Settings.
• Health Connect / Apple HealthKit Optional — If enabled by you, BeWell reads or writes steps, active energy burned, and distance from Google Health Connect or Apple Health. All data retrieved from Health Connect adheres strictly to the Google Health Connect Permissions Policy, including Limited Use requirements.
• Camera & Storage Optional — Used solely if you choose to take or upload a custom profile picture.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the data collected strictly for health and app operational purposes:

• To compute accurate daily step counts, calorie burn estimations, and distance covered
• To record and display detailed telemetry for outdoor walking and running workouts
• To track hydration logs and calculate daily water target completion rates
• To calculate Body Mass Index (BMI) and render longitudinal weight trends (7D, 1M, 3M, All)
• To compute habit streaks, weekly recaps, and unlock milestone badges
• To synchronize step totals to private family and friend circles that you have chosen to join
• To synchronize data across your mobile devices and companion Wear OS smartwatches
• To maintain server security, verify sessions, and prevent fraud or malicious attacks

5. Strict Zero-Exposure Social Privacy

BeWell features community circles and friend leaderboards, but incorporates strict Zero-Exposure Privacy Standards to safeguard your sensitive information:

When you participate in Friends & Family Circles, only your step count, active walk milestone summaries (e.g. "Completed a 5 km Walk" without GPS map trails), and streak achievements are visible to members you have explicitly approved.

6. Health & Medical Disclaimer

Calculations such as BMI, estimated active calorie burn, and step targets are approximations derived from standardized biometric formulas. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking medical consultation because of information tracked or displayed in BeWell.

7. Data Storage, Security & Encryption

• HTTPS / TLS 1.3: All communications between the BeWell app and our synchronization servers use industry-standard encrypted Transport Layer Security (TLS).
• Encrypted Device Keystore: User authentication tokens and session credentials are stored in Android Keystore / iOS Keychain hardware-backed secure storage.
• Local Database Isolation: Local SQLite biometric tables are isolated within the app's sandboxed private storage directory.
• Zero Plaintext Passwords: Account passwords are salted and hashed using modern cryptographic functions (bcrypt/Argon2) before storage.

8. Third-Party Integrations & Sub-processors

We work with trusted infrastructure providers strictly to operate the application:

• Google Firebase: Used for push notifications (FCM) and optional Google OAuth authentication.
• Google Health Connect / Apple HealthKit: Used to synchronize fitness data only when explicitly enabled by you.
• Map Tile Providers (OpenStreetMap / Google Maps): Used to render visual map tiles for your personal walking route summaries.

We do not share your health data with advertising networks, third-party analytics trackers, or commercial data aggregators.

9. Your Rights, Data Export & Deletion

Under global data protection standards (including GDPR and CCPA), you have the right to:

• Access & Export: Export your complete step logs, walk sessions, and weight history at any time directly in the app via Profile → Settings → Export Health & Activity Data.
• Correct & Update: Edit your name, height, weight, and goals anytime from your Profile screen.
• Permanent Account Deletion: Permanently erase your account, biometric logs, walk trails, and circle memberships directly in the app via Profile → Settings → Delete Account & Data, or via our web request portal at www.geekywebtech.com/bewell/delete-account.

10. Children's Privacy

BeWell is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal health information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us immediately and we will promptly delete the data.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may periodically update this Privacy Policy to reflect app improvements, new features, or statutory updates. When modifications are made, the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document will be revised. Significant changes will be announced via an in-app notice or email notification.
